Deme is a social app focused on communities, public chats, roleplay spaces, and user-generated content. We aim to collect only the information we need to run the service, protect users, and deliver app features.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Email address
  • Username, display name, bio, and profile details
  • Profile photos and other images you choose to upload
  • Messages, posts, comments, room content, and other user-generated content
  • Support requests or feedback you send to us

Information collected when you use app features:

  • App activity needed to operate communities, chats, moderation, and safety tools
  • Device and diagnostic information used to keep the service stable and secure
  • Push notification tokens when notifications are enabled
  • Subscription status and entitlement information when you purchase or restore Deme Pro

Camera, microphone, and media access:

  • Camera access is used only when you choose to capture photos, create media, or use camera-based features inside the app.
  • Microphone access is used only when you choose features that require audio capture.
  • Photo and media library access is used only when you choose to upload or select media.

We do not sell your personal data.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Create and manage your account
  • Show your profile, posts, chat messages, and media to other users as intended
  • Enable camera, media upload, photo capture, and audio features when you choose to use them
  • Protect the app, investigate abuse, and enforce our rules
  • Improve performance, reliability, and feature quality
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Legal Bases for Processing

Where applicable, we process personal data using one or more of these legal bases:

  • Your consent
  • Performance of our contract with you
  • Our legitimate interests in operating and securing Deme
  • Compliance with legal obligations

4. Sharing of Information

We may share information with:

  • Hosting, infrastructure, storage, analytics, and notification service providers
  • Moderation, abuse-prevention, or security service providers
  • Payment, app store, and subscription management providers used to process and verify subscriptions
  • Law enforcement or regulators when required by law

We do not sell personal data and do not share it with third parties for their own independent advertising purposes.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

Deme offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions for Deme Pro, including monthly and yearly subscription options. Purchases are processed by the platform where you buy the subscription, such as Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

To provide subscription features, we may receive and store subscription-related information from the app stores and our subscription management provider, RevenueCat. This may include your Deme user ID or app user identifier, product identifier, entitlement status, purchase date, renewal status, expiration date, cancellation status, and limited transaction metadata needed to verify access to Deme Pro.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings before the end of the current billing period. You can manage, cancel, or restore subscriptions through the app store account used for the purchase. Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals but does not delete your Deme account.

6. Data Retention

We keep personal data for as long as it is reasonably necessary to operate Deme, maintain your account, fulfill legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymize data unless we need to retain some of it for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons.

You can delete your account and associated data at any time from within the Deme app by going to Settings and pressing Delete Account.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account or data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

You can also control many permissions, such as camera, microphone, and media access, through your device settings.

The fastest way to request account and data deletion is to use the Delete Account option in the Deme app settings.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

Deme is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

10. International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. When we do this, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate protections are in place.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and may provide additional notice inside the app or through other appropriate channels.
